Lone Structure In Nature
If I were to list my favourite things, “lone structures in nature” would definitely be near the top.
I’ve been prioritizing travelling these past few years, sprung from a deep sense of calling, an understanding that seeing the world is necessary to enrich my work as a designer and small business owner.
While I love visiting museums and small shops, it’s the random structures in the middle of nowhere that truly stop me in my tracks. These seemingly isolated creations bring me an unexpected sense of solace and belonging. Is it their quiet romance? Their mysterious aura? Or simply the way they exist so unapologetically amidst the vastness of nature?
Here are a few lone structures I’ve encountered over the past two years, spanning Japan, Spain, Newfoundland, the UK, and Siem Reap.
And I think I’ve finally uncovered the reason behind their allure. It ties back to the core values of Vestige. Despite being human-made, these structures often complement their surroundings—whether intentionally by design or serendipitously through the passage of time and nature’s touch.
This is what I hope to instil in Vestige: designs that are made for humans, yet harmonize with nature. Pieces that are quiet, but leave a lasting impact.
